We’ve found success here in our headquarters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., since 1984, when Brown first earned his commercial real estate license. But the Bethune family company history is rooted deeper than that.
The Bethunes originally settled in Bethune, S.C., in the 1700s (before it adopted the Bethune town namesake). Brown and Phil’s father, Robert, grew up in nearby Cheraw, and in 1975, the family moved to Myrtle Beach, where Brown graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1981 and Phil attended school through ninth grade until transferring to Camden Military Academy. Brown went on to attend Spartanburg Methodist College and Coastal Carolina University, and Phil graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Business Administration.
The brothers joined forces a year ago, after Phil’s lucrative career in the telecommunications industry and Brown’s national achievements in commercial real estate as senior advisor for Tradd Commercial and in the commercial division of Prudential Burroughs & Chapin Realty Inc.
Today, they connect to both the national brand of SVN, as well as a local client base, blending their attributes to better balance and serve each of our clients. Phil’s focus is site selection and tenant/investor targeting, as well as mass communication efforts, in particular research and market analyses and marketing development. Brown’s specialty is site selection and brokerage, having secured more than 250 transactions. Brown touts quite an impressive nationally recognized real estate career, having been ranked No. 1 in 2005 and No. 2 in 1999 for commercial production in the Prudential network and received the Legend Award for being a consistent top producer nationally for 10 consecutive years.
